Abstract
This report was designed to evaluate the clinical efficacies and safeties of Caroverin (Spamon¢ç . Inj., Tab.) and Caroverine-Sulpyrine (Spamon-Comp¢çI . Tab.). 60 patients of ureteral stones with urinary colic were treated with these drugs at Stone Clinic, Yonsei Univesity, from August, 1988 through November, 1988.
Caroverine-HC P was initially given in 20 severe colic through parenterailroots. In postcoli phase and other 40 colic patients, Caroverine and Caroverine-Sulpyrine were orally given i each patient at dose of 6 tablets per day over a period of 3 to 7 days. The effectiveness was assessed by the subjective decision in 4 different arbitary level: Excellent, Good, Medium an. Ineffective.
The results were as follows.
1. Of 20 patients suffering form colic pain, caroverine-HCe was effective on 17 (85.0 % patients. In rapidity of analgesic effects, the Caroverine-HC e less rapid but in side reactions, less severe when compared with Meperidine.
2. Caroverine was effective in 26 of 30 patients (86.7 %) and Caroverine-Sulpyrine in 27 of the other 30 patients (90.0 %)
3. There was no serious side reaction except skin rash, feeling of thirst and vomiting, which were found in 2 (6.7 %) patients with Caroverine and 4 (13.3 %) patients with Caroverine-Sulpyrine.
In conclusion, Caroverine and Caroverine-Sulpyrine is effective and safe in the management of colic caused by urinary calculi.
